“The Power of Something New” Psalm 96:1 | Ezekiel 36:26 | 2 Corinthians 5:17

March 7, 2021

We live in a world that is enamored by that which is new.

In the Greek language there are two primary words for the word new.

A new – (Psalm 96:1)

“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.”

  • Moses and Miriam song – Exodus 15
  • David’s song – 2 Samuel 22
  • Levites sang – Nehemiah 12:27
  • Psalmist sang – Psalm 59:16
  • Mary’s song – Luke 1
  • Zechariah’s song – Luke 1
  • Jesus song – Mk. 14:26
  • Paul and Silas sang – Acts 16
  • Heaven’s song – Revelation 5:9

A new – (Ezekiel 36:26)

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

The prophet Ezekiel, in Ezekiel 36, describes a: “heart of stone”- NIV; “stony heart” – KJV; “stubborn heart” – CEV

Jeremiah 31:31-33:
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, (32) not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. (33) For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

A new – (2 Corinthians 5:17)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Question: “What kind of changes has Christ made in you?”
