DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. Have you ever known someone who was way too obsessed with something? Like they’re not paid for it, but they might as well be a walking spokesperson for a brand or famous person or a book/tv show/or movie series of some sort? Share your story (extra points for hilarity)
  2. What did you hear from the message this past Sunday?
  3. Paul writes the letter to the Philippians but he gives credit to young Timothy as well. Why does God so often use young people to accomplish His purposes? How can you encourage a young person in the church this week?
  4. The Philippian Church started as a house church by Lydia, a successful businesswoman and also likely a widowed single mom (Acts 16). Why is this significant? Do you think God wants to use you to build up the church? If yes, how so? If not, why not?
  5. The whole letter centers around living for and in light of the person of Jesus Christ (showcased most clearly in Philippians 2:1-11). For Paul, Christ was everything so much so that he says “To live is Christ, to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). What do you think Paul meant by that? How would that perspective be helpful for us as we face a new U.S. president? How would that perspective be helpful for us as we continue in a global pandemic?
  6. Go around: how can we honestly pray for you?
