Margin: making room for what matters most! | Part 1: Creating Space!
November 8, 2020[1] To “Create Space” We Need To Acknowledge Our
Psalm 119:96 (TEV) — I have learned that everything has limits;
Job 14:5 (NCV) — Our time is limited. You (God) have given us only so many months to live and have set limits we cannot go beyond.
[2] To “Create Space” We Need To Clarify Our
Matthew 16:26 (MSG) — What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?
Hebrews 11:24-26 (MGS)
Moses, when grown, refused the privileges of the Egyptian royal house. 25 He chose a hard life with God’s people rather than an opportunistic soft life of sin with the oppressors. 26 He valued suffering in the Messiah’s camp far greater than Egyptian wealth because he was looking ahead, anticipating the payoff.
[3] To “Create Space” We Need To Ask The Best
“What is the thing to do?”
Ephesians 5:15-17 (NLT)
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
[4] To “Create Space” We Need a Margin
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG) — “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.”
Isaiah 40:29-31 (MSG) — God energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts … young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. 31 But those who wait upon GOD get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG) — “I’ll show you how to take a real rest. 29 Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. 30 Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
