All The Feels Part 3: I Want To Be Happy

Psalm 119:1–8

How happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk according to the Lord’s instruction! Happy are those who keep his decrees and seek him with all their heart. They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways. You have commanded that your precepts be diligently kept. If only my ways were committed to keeping your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed when I think about all your commands. I will praise you with an upright heart when I learn your righteous judgments. I will keep your statutes; never abandon me.

Starting point: The feeling of happiness is a great but a terrible .

  1. If we would be happy, we can’t give things ultimate .

Ecclesiastes 2:1–3 I said to myself, “Go ahead, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy what is good.” But it turned out to be futile. 2 I said about laughter, “It is madness,” and about pleasure, “What does this accomplish?” 3 I explored with my mind the pull of wine on my body—my mind still guiding me with wisdom—and how to grasp folly, until I could see what is good for people to do under heaven during the few days of their lives.

  • If your happiness on things you can , you will never be truly happy.

  1. Happiness starts with God and for Him.

Ecclesiastes 12:13–14

13 When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: fear God and keep his commands, because this is for all humanity. 14 For God will bring every act to judgment, including every hidden thing, whether good or evil.

  • Submit your purpose to the purposes of , and don’t happiness apart from Him.
  1. We must trust the wisdom of God when He gives to a .

Genesis 2:15–17

15 The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it. 16 And the LordGod commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”

  1. Make and a first response to sin.

Psalm 32:1-6a

THE JOY OF FORGIVENESS

How joyful is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! How joyful is a person whom the Lord does not charge with iniquity and in whose spirit is no deceit! When I kept silent, my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was drained as in the summer’s heat.

Selah

Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not conceal my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the guilt of my sin.

Selah

Therefore let everyone who is faithful pray to you immediately.

  1. Take the of life so that present circumstances can’t steal your joy.

Psalm 39:4–5

“Lord, make me aware of my end and the number of my days so that I will know how short-lived I am. In fact, you have made my days just inches long, and my life span is as nothing to you. Yes, every human being stands as only a vapor.

Final Thought: happiness is a product of . Don’t expect perfection until perfection comes.

Revelation 21:3–5

Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look, God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away.

5 Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new.” He also said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.”
