His Baptism

Matthew 3:13-17

“He received the same baptism with us, in order to assure believers, that they are ingrafted into his body and that they are ‘buried with him in baptism’ that they may rise to ‘newness of life,’”

  1. When Jesus , we obey. 3:13-15

“We must also observe his modesty, in giving up his opinion, and immediately obeying Christ.” John Calvin

  1. Our hope and peace rest on the work of Jesus. 3:16-17

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” Isaiah 61:1

  1. Two reasons you can Jesus. 3:18
  • He is loved by the Father, therefore you are loved by the Father.

“one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God  and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians 4:6

  • His life pleases the Father, so the Father is pleased with you, not counting your sins against you.

“he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” Ephesians 1:5-7

Memory Verse: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
