“Living the Word”

Psalm 1:3-5

“Salvation is not merely forgiveness and admission to heaven. It means life is healed, slowly but surely, in all its dimensions.”
Timothy J. Keller, God’s Wisdom for Navigating Life: A Year of Daily Devotions in the Book of Proverbs

  1. The man of wisdom lives a life in the gospel. V.3

  • The Tree of Knowledge.

You may surely eat of every tree in the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” Genesis 2:17

  • The Tree of Life.

Then the Lord God said, ‘Behold the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat and live forever-therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.” Genesis 3:22-23

“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit , yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations” Revelation 22:1-2

  • The Cross of Christ

“And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.” Colossians 2:13-14

  1. The wicked man will without the gospel. Vs.4-6

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do mighty works in your name. And I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.” Matthew 7:21-23
