Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

Matthew 22:34-40

Observations:

1. You love God if you love your neighbor.

  • 1 John 4:20

“So loving others is the outward manifestation, the visible expression, the practical demonstration, and therefore the fulfillment of what the Old Testament is about. So, there is a sense in which the second commandment (to love your neighbor) is the visible goal of the whole Word of God.” – John Piper

2. Because we are inherently , there is to love our neighbor as our self unless we love God .

  • Revelation 2:4-5
  • Matthew 6:33
  • Matthew 22:37-38

Application:

  1. Love and seek God
  2. Allow God to all of your deep idols.
  3. Love your neighbor out of the and God provides.

  6. How does this selfishness interfere with our ability to love others?
  7. Have you ever viewed others as a threat? Explain.
  8. Why is it so important that we take our deep idols and insecurities to Jesus in regard to loving our neighbor?
