1. Because of our fallen nature, we are tempted to seek through worldly, political

2. These worldly rulers and governments will , and will ultimately never what our hearts long for.

- Looking at your emotions, thoughts and behaviors related to politics, how much security do you put in worldly governmental rule? How does remembering God’s sovereignty impact your responses?
- Like the Israelites, why do you think we put such an emphasis on tangible rulership?
- Knowing that leaders and even nations come and go, why do you think we allow ourselves to get so attached to individuals, parties, and nations?
- What deeper need or desire are we trying to satisfy with worldly rulership?
- If God has placed a desire for His eternal rule on our hearts, why do we seek security in lesser tangible leaders?
- We know that God is sovereign over the rise and fall of nations. How does the constant change in worldly leadership lead to anxiety, stress and frustration in life? Should it?
- How does knowing that Jesus reigns forever bring you peace in an ever-changing political environment? Are you at peace right now? If not, what are some things you can do this week to intentionally rely and rest on God’s rulership?
