It is Finished
John 19:28-30

Main Thing to Know:
All that needed to be done has been done

1. Jesus fulfilled the Scriptures

. . . knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said “I thirst!” (v. 28)

2. Jesus satisfied the Law

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” (Matthew 5:17)

3. Jesus paid our debt

[Jesus] does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. (Hebrews 7:27)

• He paid it once

• He paid it completely

• He paid it forever

4. Jesus defeated the devil

. . . through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil. (Hebrews 2:14)

5. Jesus delivered us from death

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son (Colossians 1:13)
