Power in Praise | Psalm 149
Pastor Blake Hanson | 3.20.22

Hebrews 13:15–16 (NLT)

15 Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.

16 And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

The Issue: A praising problem raises insecurities and insecurities make us leave the praising to the

Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful.

O Israel, rejoice in your Maker. O people of Jerusalem, exult in your King.

Praise his name with dancing, accompanied by tambourine and harp.

For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.

Let the faithful rejoice that he honors them. Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds.

We have to constantly say to ourselves: “I choose praise over payback.”

Psalm 149:8-9 (NLT)

to bind their kings with shackles and their leaders with iron chains,

to execute the judgment written against them. This is the glorious privilege of his faithful ones. Praise the Lord!

Ephesians 6:12 (ESV)

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Psalm 149:1 (NLT)

Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful.
