Reset #3 – Stewardship

Series Text

Ephesians 4:20-24 (NIV) 20  You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. 21  Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22  You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23  to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24  and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Principles of Stewardship

God everything

Colossians 1:16 (NASB) 16  For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.

God everything

Psalm 24:1 NLT 1  The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

God made man for everything

Genesis 1:28 NLT 28  Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”

God holds man for the way he manages

Matthew 25:29-30 NLT 29  To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. 30  Now throw this useless servant into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

God those who steward His resources well

Matthew 25:21 (NLT2) 21  “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’

Rethink the

Deuteronomy 12:8-11 (NIV2011) 8  You are not to do as we do here today, everyone doing as they see fit, 9  since you have not yet reached the resting place and the inheritance the LORD your God is giving you. 10  But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and he will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you will live in safety. 11  Then to the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name—there you are to bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice possessions you have vowed to the LORD.

Reallot your

1 Peter 4:10 (NIV2011) 10  Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Redeem your

Ephesians 5:15-17 (NKJV) 15  See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16  redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17  Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
