Luke 6:47-49 TPT 47 Let me describe the one who truly follows me and does what I say. 48 He is like a man who chooses the right place to build a house and then lays a deep and secure foundation. When the storms and floods rage against that house, it continues to stand strong and unshaken through the tempest, for it has been wisely built on the right foundation. 49 But the one who has heard my teaching and does not obey it is like a man who builds a house without laying any foundation whatsoever. When the storms and floods rage against that house, it will immediately collapse and become a total loss. Which of these two builders will you be?”

Why Be Baptized?

It is

Matthew 28:19 NASB 19  “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

Mark 16:16 NKJV 16  He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

It is the following your confession of faith.

Acts 19:2-5 NASB 2  He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” 3  And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” And they said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4  Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5  When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus..

It signifies that you have yourself in Christ.

Romans 6:3-4 NLT 3  Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? 4  For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

What Does It Do?

Confirms your with God.

Colossians 2:9-12 NASB 9  For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10  and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; 11  and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; 12  having been buried with Him in baptism, . . .

Connects you to the of God.

Genesis 17:1-11 NLT 1  When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. 2  I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.” 3  At this, Abram fell face down on the ground. Then God said to him, 4  “This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations! 5  What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations. 6  I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them! 7  “I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. 8  And I will give the entire land of Canaan, where you now live as a foreigner, to you and your descendants. It will be their possession forever, and I will be their God.” 9  Then God said to Abraham, “Your responsibility is to obey the terms of the covenant. You and all your descendants have this continual responsibility. 10  This is the covenant that you and your descendants must keep: Each male among you must be circumcised. 11  You must cut off the flesh of your foreskin as a sign of the covenant between me and you.

God to begin His work in your life.

Colossians 2:12 HCSB 12  Having been buried with Him in baptism, you were also raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
