2019 in Review What We Learned in a Nutshell

2 Timothy 3:14, 16-17 (NLT2) 14  But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. . . . 16  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17  God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Romans 12:2 (MSG) 2  Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Most people have , but .

John 13:34-35 (MSG) 34  “Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. 35  This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”

Loving like Jesus loved means like He .

Hebrews 12:2 (MSG) 2  Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.

The best way to learn to live life is to how Jesus did it.

Proverbs 4:7 (NIV) 7  Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

Proverbs 26:12 (NKJV) 12  Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Godly wisdom is essential to .

Acts 19:1-2 (NIV) 1  While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2  and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

God wouldn’t have given the Holy Spirit if He didn’t mean for us .

Ephesians 4:17-24 (MSG) 17  And so I insist—and God backs me up on this—that there be no going along with the crowd, the empty-headed, mindless crowd. 18  They’ve refused for so long to deal with God that they’ve lost touch not only with God but with reality itself. 19  They can’t think straight anymore. 20  But that’s no life for you. . . [E]verything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, 23  a life renewed from the inside 24  and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.

Those made in God’s image are not designed to be like the rest of the world in the way they , in the way they , in the way they , or in the way they .

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV) 16  Be joyful always; 17  pray continually; 18  give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

No matter what comes your way in life, prayer should always be your , not your .

Ephesians 1:17-19 (MSG) 17  But I do more than thank. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, 18  your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for Christians, 19  oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!

God designed a glorious way of life for you, so and !

Matthew 10:28 (KJV) 28  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Faith and Hope are the to the things that casuse you fear.

Psalm 100:1-5 (NASB) 1  Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. 2  Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. 3  Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. 4  Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. 5  For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.

and in life come from giving thanks to God in EVERY situation.

Matthew 13:34 (NLT2) 34  Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables.

The best lessons we learn from God are taught through .
