“Who’s Next? Part I

April 19, 2020

Luke 24:49 (NLT); “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with from Heaven.”

Acts 1:1-8 (NLT); In my first book I told you, , about everything Jesus began to do and teach until the day He was taken up to Heaven after giving His chosen apostles further instructions through the Holy Spirit.

During the forty days after He suffered and died, He appeared to the apostles from time to time, and He proved to them in many ways that He was actually . And He talked to them about the of God.

Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the He promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be with the Holy Spirit.”

So, when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore kingdom?”

Even 40 days after the Resurrection; even after being with the Resurrected Christ; Thomas being accepted and Peter being forgiven and restored, they still did not understand the “ of

Acts 1:7,8 (NLT); He replied, “The Father has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My , telling people about Me —in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in , and to the ends of the earth.”

Samaria and two baptisms

The Two Baptisms – Water The Two Baptisms In Scripture the first was water; the Cross/Resurrection a public declaration of a redemption. John the “Baptist,” and the Disciples of Jesus.

the Cross and Resurrection a public declaration of both the work of Christ through His death, burial and resurrection and of decision to receive new life through that work.

Water doesn’t save anyone

It is never salvation in itself. Jesus is the Author of salvation. Water is symbolic, not redemptive for any age, most specifically for a baby or child who cannot make the decision to receive salvation with their own understanding.

The Second Baptism is of and in The Holy Spirit: it is subsequent to salvation; you can receive power to witness and to walk in the Spirit led life. The Baptism if the Holy Spirit is salvation either

Salvation comes from and is received by through .

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is accomplished or received through form or ritual. The baptism of the Holy is received as a , from the Holy Spirit, which He has the authority to give.

No one; regardless of their perceived understanding of the work/moving of the Holy spirit can ever the authority of the Spirit. Such talk is at minimum; , most definitely and borders on

The Holy Spirit is indeed Holy and worthy of honour. Don’t even think of lying to the Holy Spirit. He is God.

Acts 5:1-10 (NLT); But there was a certain man named Ananias who, with his wife, Sapphira, sold some property. He brought of the money to the apostles, claiming it was the amount. With his wife’s he kept the rest.

Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to !”

As soon as Ananias heard these words, he fell to the floor and . Everyone who heard about it was terrified. Then some young men got up, wrapped him in a sheet, and took him out and buried him.

About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter asked her, “Was this the price you and your husband received for your land?” “,” she replied, “that was the price.”

And Peter said, “How could the two of you think of conspiring to test the Spirit of the Lord like this? The young men who buried your husband are just outside the door, and they will carry you out, too.”

Instantly, she fell to the floor and When the young men came in and saw that she was dead, they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

1. I believe the church and every age in the church, needs to and be taught; to to know a lot more of the of the Holy Spirit. Specifically, as it pertains to the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the of the Holy Spirit.

2. This teaching be as a form, ritual or legalism but of purity. This should lead to true lasting freedom because we will then understand, that freedom in the Spirit and living holy, according to the Word of God are mutually not mutually .

3. This goes a singular moment. This is about a choice; a passion and purpose to grow in our understanding of the Spirit’s wisdom, guidance and direction and that purpose with the same passion.

It begins with . Who’s next? Are you willing to receive salvation?
