1 Peter 2:1-2 (NLT); So get of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,
R1 – Rid; remove, be done with, move permanently away from!
1 Peter 2:3-4 (NLT); now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness. You are coming to Christ, who is the Living Cornerstone of God’s temple. He was by people, but He was chosen by God for great honour.
R2 – Rejected; He was rejected yet He is the for all who choose too come to Him!
1 Peter 2:5,6 (NLT); And you are living stones that God is building into His spiritual temple. What’s more, you are His holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God. As the Scriptures say, “I am placing a Cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honour, and anyone who trusts in Him will never be disgraced.”
1 Peter 2:7 (NLT); Yes, you who trust Him the honour God has given Him. But for those who Him, “The Stone that the builders has now become the Cornerstone.”
R3 – Recognize; trusting in Christ is an affirmation in our spirits of the reality of who He is and what He has done!
1 Peter 2:8 (NLT); And, “He is the Stone that makes people stumble, the that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s Word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.
R4 – ROCK – He is The Way, The Truth and the Life; which all of creation declares and which cannot be ignored but which human beings can .
1 Peter 2:9 (NLT); But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a , you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light.
R5 and R6 – Royal and Result; By grace we are adopted into the family of God and by our actions others should desire too join the family!
1 Peter 2:10 (NLT); “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you no mercy; now you have God’s mercy.”
R7 – Received; we did not, nor can we; earn grace and mercy. We them through and because of Christ’s work, when we believe.
1 Peter 2:11 (NLT); Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.
R8- Residents; we are only in this world temporarily. Our citizenship is in Heaven. Stay away from anything which attempts to change that focus!
1 Peter 2:12-17 (NLT); Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honourable behavior, and they will give honour to God when He judges the world.
For the Lord’s sake, all human authority-whether the king as head of state, or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honour those who do right.
It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God, and the king.
R9 – Respect; For the follower of Jesus, should be a given not a decision.
1 Peter 2:18,19 (NLT); You who are slaves must accept the authority of your masters with all . Do what they tell you not only if they are kind and , but even if they are cruel. For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is t and patiently endure unfair treatment.
R10 and R11; Reasonable or Right; Whether or not we are treated reasonably; we are called to do the right thing, all the time, every time as God’s children.
1 Peter 2:20-23 (NLT); Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.)
For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in His steps. He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.
1 Peter 2:23 (NLT); He did not when He was insulted, nor threaten when He suffered. He left His case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.
R12 and R13 – Retaliate and Revenge; If Jesus did not or take while He was on the Cross, we have zero to ever do either one.
1 Peter 2:24, 25 (NLT); He personally carried our sins in His body on the Cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By His wounds you are healed.
Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.
“R” (Are) you part of God’s Royal Family?
