James Series – Part I – “Passing the Tests”

September 6, 2020

Background: Author: James – Written circa 49 A.D. to the “12 Tribes – Jews – Hebrews”

The Two Big Questions for this series are; does it means and we can become a more Follower of Christ?

James 1:1,2 (NLT); This letter is from James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am writing to the “ tribes”-Jewish believers scattered abroad. Greetings! Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great .

When trouble comes; think about great joy! WHAT??

James 1:3 (NLT); For you know that when your faith is , your has a chance to .

, Back to , Labour Day been, and be times of testing.

If you don’t for the testing, you will probably .

Experience, growth and maturity and , all come through our times of testing. Testing is the but not the for growth and maturing. We make the choices.

James 1:4 (NLT); So let it grow, for when your endurance is developed, you will be and complete, needing .

In my opinion Perfect is best understood as ; perfect is; mature (NIV); having gotten to the place of being able to keep whatever happens to us in the right eternal .

James 1:5 (NLT); If you need wisdom, our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Seek God’s wisdom and direction in all things! We will not “pass the tests,” with our own wisdom. Spiritual maturity requires Godly wisdom.

James 1:6-8 (NLT); But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God . Do not waver, for a person with divided is as as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should expect to receive from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are in everything they do.

Instability and maturity are incompatible!

James 1:9-10 (NLT); Believers who are poor have something to about, for God has honored them. And those who are rich should boast that God has them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field.

You can’t take it with you. This is only our home.

James 1:12 (NLT); God blesses those who endure and . Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.

Do you love Him today?
