I Peter 2:4-10

We need to __________ the Spiritual Disciplines that we have discussed before.

    1. We learn about God’s heart for us — His plan of salvation and purpose
    2. We learn how to live holy lives — how to _____ and walk with Jesus
    3. We learn how-to live-in ___________ — fellowship, living, & working
    4. We learn how to _________ — privately and corporately
    5. We learn how to be __________ in the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus as Savior and LORD.

We ______ develop these _______ and ___________ knowing that this foundation is laid on the Cornerstone (Jesus). Because The Way of Jesus is the Way of the Rock.

Knowing that the Way of Jesus is the Way of Practice & the Rock will help us to understand the 3rd theological affirmation.

The Way of Jesus is the Way of ________________

What consequences? Verses 24-27 compare two different houses:

  1. The first built by the wise man enjoyed the ______ results of being built on the _____
  2. The second house was built on sand and when the same weather came, the house “fell with a great crash!”

How does this apply to us ____________?

Think with me back over the previous two weeks. Including today, we have stepped through Matthew 7.

  1. Judgement – God’s Judgement, Good Judgement, & Judgmentalism
  2. False Prophets: Imitators – Fruit Inspection, Right Motives, Obedience

First, rock solid __________________ in our life lead to _____________ _________________.

Second, ________ consequences are the result of failing to build Spiritual Disciplines on a rock-solid foundation.

Our actions or lack of action have both intended and unintended consequences. A failure to practice the disciplines and skills needed in our physical and spiritual lives have consequences.

Questions:

Did Jesus practice?

What spiritual disciplines are you practicing right now?

What spiritual disciplines do you need to start and/or work on?

What spiritual foundation have you laid for your journey in Jesus?

Will you act today as led by the Holy Spirit?

What consequences are you experiencing right now?
