The Four Laws Of Love: The Law Of Pursuit

Two Big Statements: 

• Marriage is the  relationship on the earth when God’s laws for love are . 

• You have a  chance of happiness and success in marriage when you honor God’s laws of love

Law 1: The Law of : Your marriage relationship is to be prioritized above everyone and everything else except for your relationship with God.

Genesis 2:23-24

And Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Law 2: The Law of : Marriage only works when we work at it by serving each other, according to God’s design. 

Matthew 23:11–12 NIV 

The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

The Servant Rules: Using the Acronym “S.E.R.V.E.” 

1.  what your spouse needs in spite of what you need, want, or understand. 
2.  serving your spouse by serving with a good attitude. 
3.  score keeping and do what you do with a spirit of grace and faith.
4.  protect the priority of your marriage and the time and energy to serve your spouse. 
5.  to be blessed, and don’t get discouraged and give up. 

The path back to a good marriage:

Revelation 2:4-5 NASB

But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore, remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the deeds you did at first…

•  what you did to work at your relationship and to protect it early on.

•  by acknowledging the truth, admitting you were wrong and adjusting your direction. 

•  your love by doing what you did to fall in love in the first place.
