The Four Laws Of Love: Demystifying Marriage

February 14, 2021   /   CrossRoads Moss Bluff

Two Big Statements:

  1. Marriage is the  relationship on the earth when God’s laws for love are
  1. You have a  chance of happiness and success in marriage when you honor God’s laws of love.

Genesis 2:20–25 NIV

So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.

So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh.

Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

Mark 14:23–24 NIV

Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.  “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them.

Philippians 2:5-8 NIV

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;  rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Law 1: The Law of : Your marriage relationship is to be prioritized above everyone and everything else except for your relationship with God.

Ephesians 6:1–4 NIV

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Exodus 34:14 NIV Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

How to keep the Law of Priority:

  • Honor God and His Word by learning it and  it.
  • Listen to each other’s “complaints” without getting .
  • Train your children to  your marriage.
  • Build daily, weekly monthly and annual  and traditions in your marriage to keep it first.
