Life Story: The Parable Of The Lost Sheep

Luke 15:1-2 ESV
“Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. 2 And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, ‘This man receives sinners and eats with them.’”

We can’t be when grace is given to others we deem .

Luke 15:3-4 ESV

“So he told them this parable: 4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?”

God is on mission and the lost.

We can be either or for those far from God.

Luke 15:5 ESV
“And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.”

“In bringing it home. Though he finds it weary, and perhaps worried and worn away with its wanderings, and not able to bear being driven home, yet he does not leave it to perish, and say, It is not wroth carrying home; but lays it on his shoulders, and, with a great deal of tenderness and labor, brings it to the fold. This is very applicable to the great work of our redemption.”  -Matthew Henry

He does not leave us to our own way .

Luke 15:6-7 ESV

“6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ 7 Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”
