All Things New: Better Than Just Praying About It
January 10, 2021 / CrossRoads Moss BluffEzra 8:21-23 NIV
There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions. I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king, “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him.” So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer.
January 2021 CrossRoads Prayer Focuses:
- : Ask God to clearly show us what He wants us to focus on in these uncertain times.
1 Chronicles 12:23-31 NIV
These are the numbers of the men armed for battle who came to David at Hebron to turn Saul’s kingdom over to him, as the Lord had said: from Judah, carrying shield and spear—6,800 armed for battle;
from Simeon, warriors ready for battle—7,100; from Levi, 4,600, including Jehoiada, leader of the family of Aaron, with 3,700 men, and Zadok, a brave young warrior, with 22 officers from his family;
from Benjamin, Saul’s tribe—3,000, most of whom had remained loyal to Saul’s house until then; from Ephraim, brave warriors, famous in their own clans—20,800;
from half the tribe of Manasseh, designated by name to come and make David king—18,000;
1 Chronicles 12:32 NIV
from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do—200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command;
- : Ask God to be so very present in us that people encounter Him when they encounter us.
Exodus 33:12-17 NIV
Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’
If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”
The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.
How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”
- : Ask God to make each of us ready for our roles in the revival He is wanting to bring.
Habakkuk 3:2 NIV
Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.
