Worst Advice Ever Pt. 2 “Forget About It”

April 18, 2021

It sounds good, but is it?

Worst Advice Ever! Just forget about it.

Hebrews 8:12 The Passion Translation

12 For I will demonstrate my mercy to them and will forgive their evil deeds, and never remember again their sins.”

Colossians 3:12-14 Living Bible

12 Since you have been chosen by God who has given you this new kind of life, and because of his deep love and concern for you, you should practice tenderhearted mercy and kindness to others. Don’t worry about making a good impression on them, but be ready to suffer quietly and patiently. 13 Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 Most of all, let love guide your life, for then the whole church will stay together in perfect harmony.

We can forgive, even when we can’t forget.

LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION

Start talking.

  • Why do you think it is so much easier to remember negative things than positive things?

Start thinking.

  • Why does sharing our pain openly with Jesus help us choose forgiveness? How have you seen this play out in your own life?

Start sharing.

  • What changes about how we view people and memories when we choose to forgive?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

  • Stop and take time to share prayer requests and pray for one another.

Start doing.

  • Take some time to reflect on and remember all that God has forgiven you for.
  • As it relates to forgiving others, give yourself permission to remember, then write what it is you need to forgive them for down or verbally express to God. Make an appointment with our wellness center to sit down and talk through it.
