LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION
Start talking.
- What’s a blessing you experience because you live in America, that you are very appreciative of?
Start thinking.
- What do you think some differences are between being a citizen of heaven and a citizen of America?
- Read Matthew 5:1-11. How do you think this teaching from Jesus informs Christians on how they should live, act, and interact with their world?
- In what ways do you think the Sermon on the Mount, our “Christian Constitution” is similar or dissimilar from our American Constitution?
Start sharing.
- What is the hardest beatitude for you to personally embrace or face? What makes it hard?
- In what ways do you think we are blessed when we live out the beatitudes? Share from personal experience.
Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.
- Take time to share prayer requests and pray for one another. Ask God to help us live out his Christian Constitution. Pray specifically for which beatitudes we need to embrace the most.
Start doing.
- Read and ratify. Read the sermon on the mount (5-7). Citizens of heaven ratify God’s new constitution. If you are ready to be a citizen of Heaven, then pray and ask God to help you commit to living out its ideals.
- Ask God to transform you into a citizen of his kingdom.
- Give people a chance to become a citizen of Heaven.
