LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION

Start talking.

  • Have you ever had a gym membership that you never used or used only a couple of times?
  • What is an area of your life where you feel like you need a lot more discipline?

Start thinking.

  • Do you think that taking a few minutes regularly to practice spiritual disciplines is enough to actually grow closeness with God? If so, how?
  • What do you think are some of the more important spiritual disciples? Why do you think they’re so important?

Start sharing.

  • What is some growth that you have experienced when you chose to be spiritually disciplined?
  • What are some of the obstacles that get in the way of being spiritually disciplined? Share with the group any helpful ideas that you have that have helped you.

Start praying.

  • Ask the group to stop and take time to share prayer requests and pray for one another.

Start doing.

  • Identify the area of your life where spiritual discipline is clearly lacking. Ask yourself what consequences you will experience in your walk with God five years from now if you change nothing, and then decide if it is worth it. Decide what you need to change, though it may be painful, to be a more effective disciple of Christ. Then make the choice TODAY that you will follow through.
  • Create accountability that actually has the power to hold you to your words.
  • Celebrate your victories.
