Messy Church Pt. 3 – Hot MessMay 23, 2021
Address the mess.
Matthew 9:13 New Living Translation
13 Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
1 Peter 4:8
Everyone hurts and everyone hurts.
If you are in a mess, if it’s your mess acknowledge it, apologize, and start cleaning, and if the mess got spilt on you PPI then you reach out in grace and love.
LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION
Start talking. Come up with a conversation starter for the group.
What’s the biggest mess you’ve ever made? How did it happen?
What did it take to clean it up?
Start thinking. Create a thoughtful question.
What was a time a friend or family member “made a mess” that got on you?
Is it hard to do life with other believers? Why?
Why do we all “make a mess” on each other if no one really wants to?
Start sharing. Create questions that create openness.
Have you ever unintentionally or intentionally hurt someone’s feelings?
How did they respond?
How would you want someone to respond to you unintentionally hurting them?
Is that how you respond?
Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.
- Ask the group to stop and take time to share prayer requests and pray for one another.
