LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION

Start talking.

  • What is something that you and your best friend do or say that nobody else understands?
  • What’s one of the best things about your best friend?

Start thinking.

  • This past Sunday we said, “Real growth requires friends who aren’t afraid to get real.” Why do you think that it is hard sometimes to be real with our friends?

Start sharing.

  • Do you find it easy or hard to say hard things to your friends that you know they need to hear but may not want to hear?
  • Read Proverbs 27:17 (NLT) – 17 As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.
    • Share of a time when your friend sharpened you as iron sharpens iron? How did it make you feel? What changes, if any, did you make?
  • Share of a time when you were able to sharpen a friend? How did your friend respond?
  • Read and discuss 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (TLB) – 11 So encourage each other to build each other up, just as you are already doing.
    • What do you think it looks like to “encourage” and “build each other up?” What are the benefit of having friendships that do this? What are some potential consequences for not having friendships that do this?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

  • Ask the group to stop and take time to share prayer requests and pray for one another.

Start doing.

  • How can you get better at getting real with those in your circle? Be practical and give examples.
