A Blessed Life Pt. 4 “Breaking the Spirit of Mammon”

We are blessed to be a blessing. 

‭‭Matthew ‭6:24 NKJV

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

Exodus ‭20:3 NKJV

“You shall have no other gods before Me.”

Psalm 62:10

10 … And if your wealth increases, don’t make it the center of your life.

Have stuff, but to not let your have you.

Start talking. 

• Write about someone who has been incredibly generous towards you and/or your family.

Start thinking. 

• Read ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:24‬. Why do you think Jesus says that we can’t serve both God and our material possessions? Why do you think we will tend to lean in one direction or the other? 

• How do you think it’s possible to have lots of stuff but not let our stuff have our hearts, trust, or dependence?  

Start sharing. 

• Write down personal examples of things or material possessions that you are tempted to put your trust in, derive value from, or find your identity in? Why do you think that is so easy and tempting to do? 

Start praying. 

Start doing. 

• Look for opportunities this week to surprise someone else, maybe even a stranger with an act of generosity. Buy someone’s meal, coffee, etc we way to let go is to give some.
