Road-trip Rhythms #67 – Released to Bless All Peoples
September 6, 2020 / Psalms 67:
1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah 2 that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!
How a blessing Works
The Priestly Blessing (Numbers 6:22-27)
Proclaiming the Blessing
False Gospel vs. Gospel of the
- But God blesses us because of who He is and who we are in relationship to Him
- Blessing is not just for us but as a conduit of love, we bless others. Agreement with the blessing is the act of receiving.
- Blessing is always to be a “pay it forward” reality to the Gospel as an outflow of our relationship with God.
4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah 5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! 6 The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us. 7 God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!
God’s blessing for all peoples
1 Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth!
2 I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old,
3 things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.
5 He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, 6 that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, 7 so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments; 8 and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God.
This Week’s Rhythm: Release & Bless – Demonstrating Disciples
We are witnesses of His presence, power & purpose in our lives. Sent ones who are freely responsible to delegated authority, recognizing our Christ-given authority to know and do what the Father is doing as a blessing to others, only in His power, by His Spirit, as an ongoing expression of Christ’s work in us. We are released to make, mature, and multiply the disciples of Jesus, marked by the Holy Spirit.
Key Practice: Enacting Righteousness & Justice and Blessing
The Blessing: Provision & Protection, Joy & Hope, Health & Peace
