Surrender – Serve to live & live to serve

January 31, 2021 / Mark 10:35-45

Galatians 5:13 – Serve one another humbly in love.

1 Peter 4:10 – Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Philippians 2:3-4 – 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Galatians 6:2 – Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Mark 10:35-3835 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.” 36 “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.37 They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.”38 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said.

Mark 10:41-4541 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. 42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Engage a regular rhythm of serving because…

#1 – Life’s comes through others .

Mark 10:43 – Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.

Mark 10:37 – Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.

Luke 12:15Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.

Luke 12:20 – “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

Mark 10:44 – And whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.

Acts 8:30-31 – “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.  31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

Acts 8:35-38 – Philip…told him the good news about Jesus. 36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.

To be a true in life, is fundamental in doing so.

Mark 10:45 – For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to  serve.

Is there someone or a situation that my ?

Luke 6:38 – Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
