Flip This Life

January 2, 2022 / Hebrews 5:11-14

Focus for today: followers of Jesus should always be CHANGING and GROWING.

God wants to FLIP YOUR LIFE in 2022.

God wants you to experience lasting and .

A healthy church has a pervasive concern with church growth – not simply growing numbers but growing members. A church full of growing Christians is the kind of church growth I want as a pastor. Some today seem to think that one can be a “baby Christian” for a whole lifetime. Growth is seen to be an optional extra for particularly zealous disciples. But be very careful about taking that line of thought. Growth is a sign of life. Growing trees are living trees, and growing animals are living animals. When something stops growing, it dies. – Mark Dever

In what areas of your life do you need to change?

In what areas of your life do you need to grow?

How do we experience lasting growth and change in our lives?

[01] – God reveals knowledge, understanding, instruction to me

[02] – I apply that knowledge, understanding, instruction to my life

Revelation + Obedience = Change, Growth

Text: Hebrews 5:11-14

There is much more we would like to say about this, but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don’t seem to listen. 12 You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word.[a] You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. 13 For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. 14 Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

[01] – in the Bible, listening is not hearing the Word but obeying the Word

James 1:22-25

Why would God reveal more to us if we aren’t obeying what He’s already revealed?

[02] – following Jesus a long time does not guarantee spiritual growth

Hebrews 6:1, 1 Corinthians 13:11

[03] spiritual immaturity leads to cycles of behavior

1 Corinthians 3:1-3
