Tested – Week 3
James 1:2-4 (NKJV) My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
The Test
The Question: Can You Handle ?
Luke 16:10 Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much
Be in the little things. It’s often the small things that no one sees that bring the big results that everyone wants.
#1 Don’t the day of small things
1 Samuel 16:7But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
If you are too to do small things well; then you are too to do big things well
It’s not what we that is most important, but it’s what we with what we have.
Zachariah 4:10 NLT Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin
#2 Do small things in a
1 Samuel 17:17-18 NIV Now Jesse said to his son David, “Take this ephah of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp. 18 Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit. See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance from them.
1 Samuel 17:20 Early in the morning David left the flock in the care of a shepherd, loaded up and set out, as Jesse had directed. He reached the camp as the army was going out to its battle positions, shouting the war cry.
We cannot get to what it if we are always trying to bypass what is .
Colossians 3:23 MSG And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work.
Give your , even if if seems like no one is
(Hebrews 6:10) For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
#3. Focus on who you are , not just what you are
1 Samuel 13:14 But now your kingdom will not endure; the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people, because you have not kept the LORD’s command.”
Our can take us places that our can’t keep us.
Who am I becoming right now?
#4 Grow your in the small things
1 Samuel 16:17“All right,” Saul said. “Find me someone who plays well, and bring him here.” 18 One of the servants said to Saul, “One of Jesse’s sons from Bethlehem is a talented harp player…
1 Samuel 17:34-35But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.
1 Samuel 17:38-4038 Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 39 David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. 40 Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.
Don’t self-promote and be in a rush to be used in a public way. Practice and grow your skills in the little things so you are prepared for God-opportunities.
Prayer: “HIDE ME GOD”
#5 Focus on , not
1 Samuel 24:12 May the Lord judge between you and me. May He punish you for your action against me. But my hand will not be against you.
1 Samuel 24:2020 Now I know that you will be king for sure. The nation of Israel will be made strong under your power.
Matthew 25:23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’
