Matt. 2:1-12 Seeking The King

December 27, 2020

Text:  Matthew 2:1-12,   Seeking The King

What is the Primary Purpose of Man?   It is “to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.”

Revelation 4:11;   Psalms 86:9;  1 Corinthians 10:31

Matthew 2:1-12 NKJV  Wise Men from the East

2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea

in the days of Herod the king,

behold, wise men (Magi)  from the East came to Jerusalem,

2 saying,  “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?

For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”

Q:  Who were the wise men (Magi)?

Q What was their stated purpose?

Q What does Numbers 24 tell us about the King to come?

v 8 “God brings him out of Egypt;

v 9 ‘He (crouches) down, he lies down as a lion;
And as a lion, who shall rouse him?’

v 17 “I see Him, but not now;
I behold Him, but not near;
A Star shall come out of Jacob;
A Scepter shall rise out of Israel,

19 Out of Jacob ONE shall have dominion,

The Magi asked:  “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?

For we have seen His star in the East.

The Bethlehem Star is described as a conjunction that involved the constellation Leo ! That is “the Lion”,   the planet Venus, – a woman,  the planet Jupiter  – Father, or KING, and the star Regulus. Royalty!

Q   Is  any one still interest in seeking Jesus today?

Matt. 2:3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

Why?  Because Jesus was born – KING of the Jews!

v. 8  And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me,

that I may come and worship Him also.”

False worship, a pretense to worship!

10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly .

11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother,

and fell down and worshiped Him.

What is the Price to Worship Christ?

Admit who He is:

Admit who you are:

Of all the gifts the wise men gave to Jesus, which was most prized?
