What help do I need from God today?

Psalm 40:1-4

Psalm 40:1–4 ESV “40:1 ¶ I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.

40:2 He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.

40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

40:4 ¶ Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!”

COVID 19 impact

“Real unemployment rate soars past 20%—and the U.S. has now lost 26.5 million jobs

Another 4.4 million Americans filed initial unemployment claims in the week ending April 18. That’s down from 5.2 million the week prior, however it marks the fifth consecutive week over 3 million, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.1

“Unemployment has long been associated with a significantly increased risk of death in general, particularly for low-skilled workers in the U.S.. The risk of heart disease, the leading cause of death in the U.S. at almost 650,000 deaths per year, has been shown to increase by 15–30 percent in men unemployed for more than 90 days. Among older workers, involuntary job loss can more than double the risk of stroke, which already claims 150,000 lives in the U.S. per year, as well as increase the likelihood of depressive symptoms that then persist for years. Such harms are likely exacerbated by concomitant longer term social isolation, which in of itself is associated with a 30 percent increase in mortality risk. Loneliness and social isolation have been associated with a 29 percent increase in risk of incident coronary heart disease and a 32 percent increase in risk of stroke. The scale of these elevated health risks is significant—comparable to that caused by taking up light smoking or becoming obese.”2

Hebrews 13:8 ESV “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Malachi 3:6 ESV “¶ “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.”

What God did for David three thousand years ago, He can do for you today! Just as He delivered Israel from Egypt, He can deliver you!

Just as He fed Elijah by the brook, He can feed you!

Our Lord is able – all things are possible with Him! Do you believe this?

Are you your future?

38:2 For your arrows have sunk into me, and your hand has come down on me.

38:3 ¶ There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation; there is no health in my bones because of my sin.

38:4 For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.

38:5 ¶ My wounds stink and fester because of my foolishness,

38:6 I am utterly bowed down and prostrate; all the day I go about mourning.

38:7 For my sides are filled with burning, and there is no soundness in my flesh.

38:8 I am feeble and crushed; I groan because of the tumult of my heart.

38:9 ¶ O Lord, all my longing is before you; my sighing is not hidden from you.

38:10 My heart throbs; my strength fails me, and the light of my eyes—it also has gone from me.”

Psalm 38:13–22 ESV “38:13 ¶ But I am like a deaf man; I do not hear, like a mute man who does not open his mouth.

38:14 I have become like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth are no rebukes.

38:15 ¶ But for you, O Lord, do I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.

38:16 For I said, “Only let them not rejoice over me, who boast against me when my foot slips!”

38:17 ¶ For I am ready to fall, and my pain is ever before me.

38:18 I confess my iniquity; I am sorry for my sin.

38:19 But my foes are vigorous, they are mighty, and many are those who hate me wrongfully.

38:20 Those who render me evil for good accuse me because I follow after good.

38:21 ¶ Do not forsake me, O Lord! O my God, be not far from me!

38:22 Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation!”
