The New You:  Salt and Light

Matt 5:13-16

“If anyone is in Christ he or she is a new creation.   The old has gone, the new has come!      II Cor 5:17 (NIV)

When you know you are, you’ll know to do

Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:31-32 (NIV)

You are the of the earth and the of the world

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.      Matthew 5:13 (ESV)

What does Salt do?

                              Salt

                              Salt

                              Salt

                              Salt

                              Salt

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.  Matthew 5:14-16 (ESV)

                                                         MAKING A DIFFERENCE

your light shine

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Acts 16:25 (NIV)

Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose. 27  The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped.
28  But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”
Acts 16:26-28 (NIV)

Your Salt and Light living lives

The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30  He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31  They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved–you and your household.” Acts 16:29-31 (NIV)
