                                Resurrection Impact:  Restoration

                                       John 21:15-17

Another resurrection impact for our lives –

  1. Peter was probably feeling

Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” Matthew 26:35 (NIV)

“Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!”    Immediately a rooster crowed.”          Matthew 26:74 (NIV)

At times in our lives we know what it is to Christ

“They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.”    Titus 1:16 (NIV)

  1. He probably his calling and leadership

“…he went outside and wept bitterly. Matthew 26:75b (NIV)

After our failures we too experience

“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:24 (NIV)

  1. Jesus knew the importance of Peter

“It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” Luke 24:34 (NIV)

Christ knows and seeks to us too.

  1. Jesus called Peter to his love 3 times for a purpose

“Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?”  John 21:15 a  (NIV)

Sometimes painful failures require healing processes

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” John 21:17 a (NIV)

  1. Jesus reminded Peter of his central role as of the flock.

v 15  “Feed my lambs”       v 16    “Take care of my sheep”     v 17  “Feed my sheep”

Feeding and caring for God’s lambs / sheep is for our lives today.
