Mark 6:1-6
1) We’ve been moving away from biblical values to a more approach
2) One Kingdom value:
: To value, respect, highly esteem; to treat as precious, valuable
Honor is often very in other cultures
3) Jesus’ hometown was to him
“they took offense at him. 4 Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor.” Mark 6:3b-4 (NIV)
To honor , to dishonor
4) Who are we called to honor?
Our
12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12 (NIV)
Those in positions of
The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. Romans 13:4 (NLT2)
Give everyone what you owe them: …if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Romans 13:7 (NIV)
The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 1 Timothy 5:17 (NIV)
love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Romans 12:10 (NRSV)
5) Our culture is becoming more dishonoring because people aren’t honoring
You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! Psalm 22:23 (NIV)
Let us be people who are bold in our of God and one another!
