Jesus’ Prayer: Your Kingdom Come

October 11, 2020

                                             Jesus’ Prayer       “Your Kingdom Come”

                                                                      Matt 6:9-13

“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10  your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11  Give us today our daily bread. 12  Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’   Matt 6:9-13  NIV

“Your kingdom come”  is a short petition yet prayer


Why is the kingdom of God so to make it part of our daily prayer?


The Kingdom of God was the central  of Jesus’ ministry


17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” Matthew 4:17 (NIV)

23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom”
Matthew 4:23 (NIV)

43 But he said, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” Luke 4:43 (NIV)

 “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:20b-21 (NIV)

           Jesus’ kingdom comes, we enter into it, by deciding to Him        

The Kingdom of God is the only thing that will last


            17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2:17 (NLT)

The Kingdom of God gives purpose and meaning to

             14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14 (NIV)

The Kingdom of God explains why some people live the they do

29 “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life.” Luke 18:29-30 (NIV)
