I believe…He Shall Come to Judge the Living and the Dead

II Peter 3:3-10     II Tim 4:1-2      Acts 17:30-31

The Apostles’ Creed helps us the core beliefs of our faith with our everyday lives

6 of the 12 affirmations in the Creed concern the person and work of

Each of these phrases helps us understand Jesus is and He has done for us

Today: “He shall come to the living and the dead”

At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.   Matthew 24:30 (NIV)

The promised of Jesus Christ is a huge claim

In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31  For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.”  Acts 17:30-31 (NIV)

People choose to in Jesus for all kinds of reasons

One day God will the world with justice by the One he has appointed

There has always been a cry for in the world

but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Isaiah 11:4 (NIV)

God has established Jesus as the righteous

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2  Preach the Word;  2 Timothy 4:1-2a (NIV)

We must not be surprised but be for his coming

First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4  They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”  II Peter 3:3-4

God is gracious and doesn’t want to perish

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 10  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.  II Peter 3:9-10
