I Believe…in the Resurrection of the Body

I believe in the Resurrection of the body

John 6:38,   I Corinthians 15:35-38; 42-44; 51-57

The Apostles’ Creed helps us the core beliefs of our Christian faith

Today:    “I believe in the of the body

  1. The apostles experienced resurrection.

“Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39  Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” Luke 24:38-39 (NIV)

And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”42  They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43  and he took it and ate it in their presence.  Luke 24:41-43 (NIV)

  1. The apostles preached and taught about resurrection

You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. Acts 3:15 (NIV)

With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. Acts 4:33 (NIV)

  1. Jesus preached and taught about resurrection

For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22  For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. (NIV) 1 Corinthians 15:21-22

For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.John 6:40  (NIV)

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26  and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”  John 11:25-26 (NIV)

  1. The Apostles’ preached and taught about resurrection

If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. Romans 6:5 (NIV)

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4  and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade–kept in heaven for you, 1 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)

  So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;
43  it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44  it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.
1 Cor 15:42-44 (NIV)

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed– 52  in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53  For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 1 Cor 15:51-53 (NIV)

When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55  “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57  But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ  1 Cor 15: 54-57  (NIV)

Jesus Christ has given us victory over – Hallelujah
