Psalm 42:1-11
Steps to Defeating Depression:
- you are depressed
“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me?” Ps 42:5 ; 11 (NIV)
“My soul is discouraged”. Psalm 42:6 (GW)
“My bones suffer mortal agony…” Ps 42:10 (NIV)
- your tears
“Day and night my tears are my only food ,as everyone keeps asking, “Where is your God?” Psalm 42:3 (CEV)
“All your waves and billows have gone over me, and floods of sorrow pour upon me like a thundering waterfall. Psalm 42:7 (Living)
- the Pain
“These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.” Ps 42:4 (NIV)
- the hard questions
“ Why are you discouraged, my soul? Why are you so restless?” Psalm 42:5 (GW)
“Sometimes I ask God, my rock-solid God, “Why did you let me down? Why am I walking around in tears, harassed by enemies?” Psalm 42:9 (Msg)
- God’s goodness

Jesus lived, died and was raised to help us depression
