Luke 1:26-38
Throughout this Advent season we are seeking to witness Jesus’
At the heart of our gospel story is the
“Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:20-21 (NIV)
What might it have been like to be the of Mary?
Jewish mothers had high for their daughters
There was probably a range of for Mary’s parents
Have you ever had to deal with news?

The circumstances that unfolded surrounding Jesus’ birth were

Though our circumstances may be difficult we still walk by
“I am with you always to the end of the age” Matthew 28:20 (NIV)
Mary understood Jesus’ life would be :
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. Luke 1:32 (NIV)
So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God Luke 1:35 (NIV)
The angel Gabriel’s words spoke of Jesus’
The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.” Luke 1:32-33 (NIV)
The fulfillment of these words happened with Jesus’
In time their perspective became: God – look at what have done!
