Trying to please everyone is a way to live
“ It is dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you, but if you trust the LORD, you are safe” Prov 29:25 (TEV)
God wants us to have a healthy about the approval of others
I Dangers of people pleasing:
1 I Miss God’s
“Our purpose is to please God, not people” I Thess 2:4 (NLT)
2 Keeps me from in faith
3 It leads me to
“Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong” Exod 23:2 (NIV)
4 It causes
5 It my witness
Many Jewish authorities believed in Jesus; but because of the Pharisees they did not talk about it openly, so as not to be expelled from the synagogue. They loved human approval rather than the approval of God John 12:42-43 (TEV)
II Truths to help us break the “people pleaser” addiction:
1 Even can’t please everyone
2 I don’t other’s approval to be happy Isaiah 51:12 Ps 27:10
3 What seems important is only
For the things that are considered of great value by people are worth nothing in God’s sight. Luke 16:15b (TEV)
4 I only have to please person
“I seek not to please myself but him who sent me” John 5:30b (NIV)
5 One day I’ll give an of my life Rom 14:12
6 God created me to be, not someone else
