What is light?
GOD IS LIGHT -
What is darkness?
Darkness implies everything that is anti-God
John 1:4-5 KJV – In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [a]comprehend it.
We don’t understand light until we understand our need for it.
I am the light of the world
John 8:12 (ESV): Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The world has no other light in the world but Jesus.
We don’t have to earn our way to Jesus.
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The only king who focuses on relationship rather than a set of rules.
Psalm 145:18-19: “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.”
The tomb is empty
Matthew 28:6, “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”
Everybody Needs Jesus’ as the light.
Genesis 1:27 ESV So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
John 10:10 I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
We must receive his love.
1 John 4:19 We love because he first loved us.
The world was made for this light, One day the world will be filled with Jesus’ light only.
We don’t have to earn our way to Jesus.
Isaiah 43:7 again, which says “everyone who is called by my name, whom I have created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
“GLORY” means to put confidence in and boast about or praise something.
We naturally want to be valued.
Value and honor are not a choice when you are loved by God.
2 Corinthians 4:8-18 NIV
We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.”[a] Since we have that same spirit of[b] faith, we also believe and therefore speak,14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself.15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
