Jesus is… GOD
7/18/2021
Pastor Tim

(1 Corinthians 2:1-2 Message) “You’ll remember, friends, that when I first came to you, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy. I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who he is; then Jesus and what he did–Jesus crucified.”

  • Jesus claimed to be .

(John 10:30-33 NIV) I and the Father are one.” 31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?” 33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

(Matthew 26:59-64 NIV) The chief priests…were looking for false evidence against Jesus so they could put Him to death. But they did not find any… Then they said, “Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God.” “Yes, it is as you say,” Jesus replied.

  • Jesus claimed to be the . Only God could make such an audacious claim!

(John 14:6 NIV) Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

“I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.’ That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher … You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool … or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us.”― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

  • Jesus is either:
  1. Liar
  2. Lunatic
  3. Lord

“According to the laws of legal evidence used in courts of law, there is more evidence for the historical fact of the resurrection of Jesus Christ than for just about any other event in history.” -Dr. Simon Greenleaf, Professor of Law, Harvard University

  1. Experience His .

(John 9:17, 25 NIV) Finally they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him?” He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I wasblind but now I see!”

(Acts 1:8 NIV) You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

  1. Experience His .

(Exodus 33:15 NIV) Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

  1. Experience His . Next to that fill in the blank you could write, “.”

(John 14:1, 27 NIV) “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do notlet your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

(Philippians 4:6-7 NLT) Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

  1. Experience His .

(Romans 10:9 NIV) “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe inyour heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
