How To Be Happy

1.  God’s Family is a Happy Family

Psalm 144:15 – Happy are the people whose God is the Lord.

Isaiah 35:10 – The people ransomed by the Lord…will come to Zion singing with joy. Everlasting happiness will be on their heads as a crown. They will have no sorrow or grief.

Seeking happiness without God is like seeking water without wetness or sun without light.

2.  God is Happy

1 Timothy 1:8-11 – (8) We know that the law is good when used correctly. (9) For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. It is for people who are lawless and rebellious, who are ungodly and sinful, who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy, who kill their father or mother or commit other murders. (10) The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching (11) that comes from the glorious Good News and glory of the happy God (our blessed God).

3.  God Wants You to be Happy

God Commands and Decrees that we BE HAPPY

• “Delight yourself in the Lord” – Psalm 37:4
• “Be glad in the Lord” – Psalm 32:11
• “Rejoice in the Lord” – Philippians 3:1
• “Rejoice always” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16
• “Do your acts of mercy with cheerfulness” – Romans 12:8
• “Serve the Lord with gladness” – Psalm 100:2
• “Be happy and shout to God who makes us strong!” – Psalm 81:1
• “Be happy! Rejoice out loud!” – Psalm 98:4

4.  God Plans for Your Happiness

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans for good and not evil, plans to prosper you and give you a future and a hope.”

5.  You Can Think Yourself Happy

Philippians 4:10-11 (MSG) – (10) I’m glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess – (11) Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances.

My attitude is My thought life turned inside out.

Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re probably right.”

Proverbs 23:7 – As a man THINKETH in his heart so is he…

It is possible to have a GREAT life and still be UNHAPPY because of POOR THINKING.

Lamentations 3:17-18 – (17) You have moved my soul far from peace; I have forgotten my prosperity. (18) And I said, “My strength and my hope have perished from the Lord.” (v. 21) – But this I call to mind and therefore I have hope.

Lamentations 3:22-24 (NLT) – (22) The unfailing love of the Lord never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. (23) Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. (24) I say to myself, “They Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

Romans 12:2 – Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Ephesians 4:23 (NLT) – Instead, there must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes. * (TLB) – Attitudes and thoughts must be constantly changing for the better.

Psychologists are convinced our lives move in the direction of our  most dominant thoughts.

Your thoughts are like a magnet to attract what you think about.

2 Corinthians 10:5 – …cast down every wrong imagination and take into captivity every wrong thought.

You get to decide whose report you will believe.

What you believe will determine what you receive.
