Lessons From Jesus Part 2- How Not To Pray (Matthew 6:5-8)

February 13, 2022 / Matthew 6:5-8

IceBreaker Discussion: Would you call yourself a people person? Why or why not? Follow up: Are there ever times in the past where you have tried to get people to notice you? Explain.

Read Matthew 6:1-8

Discuss

1. Define a “hypocrite”. Where are you most prone to become one?

2. There are two “prayer wrongs” mentioned in this section of scripture, what are they? At the root, what is wrong with these?

3. What are some examples of “heaping up empty phrases”? How is this detrimental to the focus of prayer?

4. If God knows what we need before we ask him, why should we pray?

Pray: During your prayer time today, spend time verbalizing concise focused prayers. Determine what some focus areas of prayer can be in your life or in your group and then take some time to pray for each category.
