How Great is His Faithfulness (Joshua 13-19)

October 3, 2021

Icebreaker: What is something that you have inherited from someone else that is of such significance to you? Why is it so signifiant?

1. Read Joshua 13:1-7

  • Contrast Joshua’s ability to lead the conquest of the past years, and God’s ability to bring it to completion.
  • What theological truths about God and man can we grasp from this section of scripture?

2. Divide the following scripture passages up to read (Exodus 23:31-33; 34:11-16, Deuteronomy 7:1-6, Joshua 13:13, 15:63, 16:10, 17:12-13) Once you have read them all discuss the following-

  • What is signifiant about Israel failing to drive out the inhabitants of the land?
  • In what ways do we repeat this same issue present day?

3. Multiple times in chapters 18-19, it is said that the inheritance was determined by lot “Before the Lord” (Joshua 18:6, 18:8, 18:10, 19:51), Why is this significant?

Brainstorm how scripture describes the inheritance waiting for those who are in Christ. (For reference read: 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 , Romans 8:18-25, 1 Peter 1:3-7, 1 John 5:11-12)

Prayer:

Take time to share areas where you have failed to live in light of God’s promises both as individuals, as well as corporately as the church. Personally spend time confessing those things before the Lord and reminding each other of God’s various promises throughout His word.
