It begins with Jesus calling specific men to follow Him. This passage tells us how the first disciples became disciples and what qualities Jesus was apparently looking for. I. (35-38) The first question we see in verse 38 is, “What are you looking for?” The idea is what are you or what are you pursuing after by following Jesus. It’s a good question for all of us to ask: what do we want from Jesus? Christ makes it very clear that if we want to be His disciples, we have to be His disciples for the right . II. (38-39) Jesus asks, “What are you seeking?” and they respond, “Master, where are you ?” In other words, “We’d like to be able to sit down with You and ask questions and get answers. We’d like to get to You!” The main thing that a disciple does is – sit at the feet of Jesus and Him and hear Him. III. (40-41, 43-45) The Greek word for “found” is used as in “finding a hidden .” It implies that someone was diligently searching for something and then discovers it. From the start, true disciples treasured Jesus. Our for Jesus is more important than our leadership. Our is more important than our work. IV.
