God Behind the ScenesJanuary 17, 2021 / Esther 4:14
Esther is about the providence of God. In Esther, God is behind the scenes. He is there, even though He is not seen, heard, or felt. Esther is unusual in that, in the original language, no name, title, or pronoun for God appears in it. It’s the only book of the Bible that has no mention of God and no single reference to God. There is not a “Most High,” a “Holy One,” an “Almighty,” a “Great I Am,” an “Elohim,” or an “Adonai” anywhere. There is no word given to a prophet, no vision or dream through which God speaks, not even a prayer is offered in 10 chapters. God’s name is never mentioned in this short Old Testament book, but His hand of providence is seen in every verse.
