Chapter 4

Sanctified: Designated for (v.3)
For this is the will of God, your sanctification (hagiasmos); that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality (porneia);
– 1 Thessalonians 4:3 (NASB)

Sanctification: hagiasmos – consecration, purification

Porneia: harlotry – (including adultery and incest) (Strong’s)

My body is the for the (v.4)
…that each of you know how to possess his own vessel (skeuos) in sanctification (hagiosmos) and honor, – 1 Thessalonians 4:4 (NASB)

“Now no one after lighting a lamp covers it over with a container (skeuos), or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light. – Luke 8:16-17 (NASU)

From God’s perspective, sexual relationships outside of marriage are considered and God takes this (v.6)
…as we told you before and solemnly warned you (v.6)

Rejecting God’s moral code in sexuality is Himself (v.8)

For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh  – Genesis 2:24 (NASB)
